Campus tree map
A quick tree walk for campus visitors, originally compiled by Dr. Robert Antibus,
emeritus professor of biology, was included in the curriculum for botany and outdoor
recreation classes. In 2016, JoAnn Antibus expanded her husband’s work to identify
more than 60 tree species across campus.
The following tree maps of the Bluffton campus are meant to be used as guides for
locating the memorial/donated trees as well as providing locations and information
for other trees on campus.
- Location of memorial and recognition trees. This map can also be used to identify many of the tree species.
- Location of labeled gymnosperm (cone producing) tree species.
- Location of labeled angiosperm (flowering) tree species.
A booklet detailing the various trees on campus is available in Bluffton’s Musselman
Library. For easier identification during the tree walk, placards will be attached
to each tree species at the location designated in the booklet.
