Confirming his career choice
Jimmy Clingman ‘26, an accounting major from Monroeville, Ohio, is spending his spring 2025 semester interning with SumiRiko Ohio Inc. in Bluffton, Ohio.
Clingman is an accounts receivable intern where his tasks include processing payments from customers, applying payments to invoices and other various documentation.
“All of the people I have worked with have been very understanding and flexible,” said Clingman. “I have been able to get a sense of what a good work environment is like.”
Clingman will continue to intern with SumiRiko in the summer.
“This internship has helped me solidify a potential path I would like to continue on in my professional career,” said Clingman. “One thing that intrigued me about this position is the ability to work remotely while living at home.”
Clingman was exposed to the accounting major through current students and did his own research and discovered that his experience and passions aligned with the major.
Clingman attributes his success in the accounting major to his academic advisor Jason Swartzlander, professor of accounting, and John Burkhart, associate professor of accounting.
“Jason is my advisor and we have developed a really good relationship,” said Clingman. “He helped me set up my internship and I have translated the knowledge gained from his accounting information systems course here at Bluffton into my internship.”
On campus Clingman is a member of the men’s basketball team and vice president of Student Investors Club.
