Steps to apply
This information is for international students interested in pursuing an undergraduate degree from Bluffton University.
New students
These requirements are for international students applying to their first university in the United States.
- Online application
Applications not received 3 months prior to the start of each academic semester may be deferred to the next semester to allow for necessary processing time. - Submit required documentation

Official English assessment
This requirement may be completed by submitting official scores for the TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test (DET), SAT, ACT or approved equivalent assessment.
Minimum scores for admission consideration:-
TOEFL: a minimum score of 60-65

IELTS, a minimum score of 6.0

DET, a minimum score of 95-100

GTEC, a minimum score of 1051

SAT, a minimum score of 990 (Critical Reading and Math)

ACT, a minimum score of 19

Bluffton University accepts ELS Language Center’s 112 Certificate as an approved equivalent assessment. For more information about ELS please visit www.els.edu.

Official academic records (not copied)
(i.e. transcripts, national examination results, grade reports) from all previous school work. Students must provide documented proof of having completed the equivalent level of secondary school in their respective country required for them to pursue university level work. - Two teacher recommendations
Print and give this teacher recommendation form to two instructors. - Proof of financial support
We ask all students to complete financial aid application and declaration of finances forms. Information on these forms must be supported by official evidence.

Transfer students
Admission requirements for international students transferring to Bluffton from another college or university in the United States
Transfer international students do not need to complete the two teacher recommendations listed above.
