Transfer student embraces his passion
Transfer student, Caleb Foltz ’26, came to Bluffton as an exercise science major with dreams of becoming a collegiate football coach. Through a passion for content creation, Foltz, an Arlington, Ohio, native, found his niche as a communication and media major.
Foltz, better known as CF3 to his viewers, has done media creation through various platforms such as YouTube and Instagram for the past eight years. Now with more than 20,000 followers on his channel, Foltz hopes to use his communication and media degree to learn more about the ever-changing field of media and grow his love for content creation.
“I started YouTube because I had a passion for creating content,” said Foltz. “Along with the pure passion, I wanted to inspire others and find a community. I feel I have built a community since starting YouTube, but I want to grow and expand that community and build a family.”
Foltz transferred to Bluffton spring semester of his sophomore year. As a result of the success of his media platforms, Foltz switched his major from exercise science with a concentration in physical education to communication and media with a concentration in sports media.
“Transferring to Bluffton was easy and made me feel like I belonged here from the start,” said Foltz. “Everyone has been very welcoming and supportive, especially through the process of changing my major.”
Through his summer job in Bluffton’s public relations office, Foltz found even more passion for content creation. Through his PR student worker role, Foltz was able to create media graphics for athletic teams, create videos for the university’s YouTube channel and create social media content to grow engagement.
Despite transferring and switching his major, Foltz still plans to graduate on time in May 2026. Following graduation, Foltz plans to continue pursuing media opportunities to grow as a professional.
On campus, Foltz is a resident advisor, public relations student assistant and member of the football team. Foltz hopes to join other clubs such as Hall Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
“A quote I like to live by is to ‘pursue glimpses of greatness,’” said Foltz. “Pursuing glimpses of greatness means to stack the glimpses of each good day to lead you to be great. Bluffton inspired me to take my hobby and turn it into a reality. I am happy I decided to transfer to Bluffton and continue to ‘pursue glimpses of greatness’ here and beyond.”
