WHY DID YOU CHOOSE BLUFFTON?
I chose Bluffton because of the nutrition and dietetics program. I also connect with
the values of the university such as community and peace. Additionally, the campus
is surrounded by nature which reminds me of home.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR MAJOR? WHAT’S MOST EXCITING ABOUT YOUR CLASSES?
I chose nutrition and dietetics because of my interest and curiosity about the human body. My interest started when I learned my dad had diabetes and due to that same chronic disease, my uncle passed away a couple of years ago. I want to help my dad and others by advising them and helping them manage their medical conditions through diet.
TELL US ABOUT BLUFFTON’S FACULTY. ARE THEY HELPING YOU REACH YOUR GOALS?
Professors have been helping me reach my goals by providing knowledge and support. They are very kind and available to help with topics I don’t understand or explain assignments I misinterpret. Their passion for their field of study encourages me to learn from them. <
WHAT STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS ARE YOU PART OF? WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO BE ACTIVE
ON CAMPUS?
I am one of the leaders for our women’s ministry on campus called Delight. In addition, I am a Spanish tutor and teacher assistant. I have been involved in cheerleading and a President’s Ambassador.
Being involved on campus has given me the opportunity to meet new people. I have met most of my good friends by being part of these groups. It has also helped improve my leadership skills and helped me find new interests.
ARE YOU A STUDENT-ATHLETE? IF SO, WHICH SPORT(S) DO YOU PLAY, AND WHAT IS THE BEST
PART OF BEING ON A TEAM AT BLUFFTON?
While many athletic associations do not designate cheerleading as a sport, I do cheer at Bluffton. Our team is not a competitive cheer team, but we do cheer on our football and basketball teams. There is so much excitement and energy when we perform and support our teams. The best part of being on a team is spending time with supportive women who encourage growth, confidence and empowerment.
