Why did you choose Bluffton?

I always wanted to go to a smaller college after growing up in a relatively big community. Bluffton felt like home from my first visit. I loved the friendly and welcoming atmosphere that was created by everyone I met. The nature on campus is beautiful, especially in the fall. Bluffton also allowed me the opportunity to pursue my dream of being a collegiate athlete.

Why did you choose your major? What’s most exciting about your classes?

I chose middle childhood education because I’ve always wanted to be a teacher and I believe middle school aged students could use good role models and more support. These students are all going through different phases of life making everyday different.

Bluffton allows the opportunity to be in a classroom very early which allows students like me to gain experience quickly. Some of my classes that involve field hours allow the opportunity to have class discussions about different experiences we have had which is cool to get to see what your peers are going through.

Tell us about Bluffton’s faculty, staff, and coaches. Are they helping you reach your goals?

It is evident the people all around the university and community truly care about you as a person, student and athlete. Professors are personable and always willing to provide extra help. Some will check-up on you and ask how you are doing outside of class. Faculty and staff consistently ask how your day is and do their best to brighten everyone’s day. Coaches make sure you feel a sense of belonging and have success in the classroom. I can confidently say people at Bluffton are giving their all to help me reach my goals.

What student organizations are you part of? Why is it important for you to be active on campus?

I am a President’s Ambassador which allows me the opportunity to represent the university at different events as well as give campus tours. I worked as an intramurals coordinator and helped organize different sport related tournaments for students.

I am also involved in campus ministries and attend chapel every Thursday. I will be a hall chaplain for one of the residence halls this year. Lastly, I am a part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes which I look forward to trying to build back up next year.

Are you a student-athlete? If so, which sport(s) do you play, and what is the best part of being on a team at Bluffton?

I am a member of the baseball team. I would say the best part of being on a team at Bluffton is the built-in friends it creates. Our team spends so much time together that we are able to connect on many levels. Going through hard workouts or practices and long road trips together builds relationships that will last a lifetime.
