Bluffton University is seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual for the position of graduate assistant for women’s soccer. This position offers the opportunity to work with a competitive NCAA Division III women’s volleyball program in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC). The candidate must have strong background in soccer along with exquisite communication, organizational and supervisory skills with the ability to show mature and responsible leadership and work well in a team environment. The successful candidate will embrace and promote the mission of Bluffton University and be the primary assistant volleyball coach.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Acceptance into the graduate program
  • Must submit to a criminal background check, subject to review and approval by Bluffton University
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive university vans

Preferred

  • Competed as a collegiate soccer student-athlete at any level
  • Interest in pursuing a career in coaching or leadership
  • Efficient multi-tasking, time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and face to face interaction skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:
As assistant coach, assist in providing coaching leadership during trainings and during matches. Recruiting and related responsibilities (i.e. phone calls, on and off campus athletic recruiting).

Other duties might include but are not limited to the following: 
  • Weekend/weekday travel to soccer tournaments to recruit
  • Assist in recruiting efforts: e-mails, texts, phone calls, online recruiting services, setting up visits, organizing camps
  • Organizing team travel plans
  • Assist in organizing, scheduling and running trainings
  • Equipment care and inventory
  • Alumni relations
  • Support head coach with fundraising efforts
  • Assist with management of social media accounts
  • Assist with community service efforts
  • Assist with field maintenance
  • Aide in the continued improvement of team culture
  • Other duties to be assigned by the head coach
The director of athletics will serve as the supervisor for secondary activities that can be added to fill out a GA’s load assignment throughout the year. Potential secondary responsibilities could be but are not limited to the following: facility duties, assist with event management, intramural program supervision and sports information assignments. These additional assignments are subject to qualifications and availability and will be determined by the director of athletics in consultation with respective head coaches.

DEGREE OBTAINED:
Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Social Work (MSW)

Compensation:
Full tuition waiver with competitive stipend and room and board.

Aug. 1, 2025
