Graduate Assistant: Sports communication for multimedia and broadcast

Part-time/10 months

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required and acceptance into Bluffton University’s graduate school program. Strong organizational, interpersonal and computer skills are required. Appropriate knowledge of athletics communications and livestream video broadcasting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The sports communication graduate assistant for multimedia and broadcast will assist the sports information director (SID) with the multimedia functions while serving as video broadcast supervisor for Bluffton University athletics. 
  • Serve as the primary content strategist for the athletics department, including production of all livestreams and management of athletic department social media accounts in conjunction with public relations office – utilizing design services from PR or approved usage of BoxOut while maintaining athletic brand standards.
  • Work closely with the SID on gameday management and coverage from the planning phase to the execution phase to publicize the academic and athletic accomplishments of student-athletes at Bluffton.
  • Assist with statistical entry of all sports as necessary.
  • Display a knowledge and proficiency in NCAA Livestats, PrestoStats and The Automated Scorebook for football, soccer, volleyball, basketball and baseball/softball
  • Ability to write post-game and post-season awards articles both clearly and concisely as necessary.
  • The director of athletics will serve as the supervisor for secondary activities that can be added throughout the year. These additional assignments are subject to qualifications and availability and will be determined in consultation between the director of athletics and sports information director.

DEGREE OBTAINED:
Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Arts in Organizational Management (MAOM) or Master of Arts in Education (MAEd)

Compensation:
Full-tuition waiver with competitive stipend and room and board.

Appointment:
August 2024-May 2025 (renewable for August 2025-May 2026)
