Academic affairs graduate assistant

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified. 

POSITION SUMMARY:
This successful applicant will work in the Bluffton University registrar’s office (10 hours a week) and the education and social work accredited academic programs (10 hours a week). 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the registrar with daily office work.
  • Support the registration process. 
  • Updating catalog copy.
  • Provide assistance in preparing for and during registration days.  
  • Provide individual student support as needed.
  • Maintain updated four-year plans for programs.  
  • Additional tasks as required.  
  • Support accredited academic programs with data collection and maintenance, generating reports and maintaining files.   
  • Communicating via email with program partners.
  • Monitoring student completions of program requirements.  
  • Meet weekly with program directors.  
  • Additional tasks possible as the schedule permits.  

QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties of this job. 

  • An interest in academic processes and practices in higher education. 
  • Admission to a Bluffton University graduate program.  
  • Proficient use in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.  
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to details.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.  
  • Integrity and honesty in conveying program information and honoring student and program confidentiality. 
  • Support of the Bluffton University mission and vision.  
  • Optional attendance at student orientation/registration events.

DEGREE OBTAINED:
Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) or Master of Social Work (MSW)

Compensation:
Full tuition waiver with competitive stipend, room and board.
