Assistant Professor of Education

POSITION SUMMARY:

Faculty typically teach 23-25 credits per academic year and engage in advising, service, and professional activities consistent with Bluffton University expectations. Appointments may include additional teaching and/or administrative responsibilities as appropriate. Specific appointment terms, workload expectations, and related policies are defined at the time of appointment.

The Assistant Professor of Education is a tenure track position. The successful candidate will teach special education courses and general curriculum courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Expertise/experience in mathematics curriculum and instruction is preferred but not required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • Doctorate in Special Education or related field.
  • Master’s degree considered for non-tenure track appointment.
  • Successful experience teaching special education in the P-12 schools.
  • Experience teaching in higher education (not required, but preferred)

Skill/Abilities:
Proficiency in or ability to learn learning management system software (Moodle). Ability to integrate technology into classroom teaching and learning.


Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Primarily a sedentary position. Some occasional travel off campus will be needed for conferences and/or off campus meetings.


COMPENSATION:

Commensurate with experience.
