Long Distance Phone Calls
Hearing your voice
is like stepping
into a hot shower
muscles relax
tension I never knew
washes away
and without realizing it
I exhale
until I’m standing in
the ripple of your voice
eyes closed, half smiling
bathing in the timbre of your laugh
mixing sweetly with mine
as the thoughts we exchange
become steam on glass
