COMMUNITY AND CONVERSATION
For more than a quarter century, a Bluffton alumnus and his wife have invited students
into their home to share in a meal and a conversation. For the first two years Wendell
Badertscher ’71 attended Bluffton, meals were served family style in the basement of
Ropp Hall. Years later, Wendell and his wife, Esther Nafziger, have brought family-style
dining back to Bluffton as the couple hosts undergraduates for formal meals at their
Bluffton home.

Long-time translator for the Botswana cross-cultural experience has become a Bluffton student. Nthati Phetlhu came to Bluffton and to America seeking a change. A few years ago, her husband passed away. The resulting devastation completely changed her outlook on life. >>> more

(GDP). Despite its flaws, GDP has been the standard measurement of well-being, but Dr.
Jonathan Andreas, professor of economics recently presented his original research
in an effort to sway world leaders and fellow economists toward another standard—
