Bluffton University offers a multidisciplinary minor in Women's Studies. The minor provides students with an opportunity to explore the historical experiences of women, including their achievements and the obstacles they have faced. Courses focus on the analytic study of gender, scholarly writings and creative works by women, and contemporary issues that affect women's lives.
The Women's Studies Program sponsors several speakers and special programs during the academic year, which are free and open to the public.
Bluffton University students have formed a Women's Studies organization, the Bluffton Women's Issues Circle. The group meets weekly to discuss issues of particular concern to women and to initiate activism on these issues. The group plans special events for the campus community, and students may attend regional conferences and workshops related to Women's Studies.
