The Corinthian Order |
The design of the capital is the main difference between the Corinthian and Doric and Ionic orders. The more ornate Corinthian capital has a double row of acanthus leaves and all four sides are identical; thus, unlike the Ionic capital, which has two different faces and is awkward at the corners, it looks good from all angles. It does have one disadvantage: it is a good nesting place for birds! |
