Tech center

Technology Center:
The Technology Center, located in Centennial Hall, has both color and black and white printers available at no charge, 50 computers for student and faculty use as well as assorted consumer technology for checkout, technical expertise, and support for students using the Tech Center throughout the school year. Student workers are available to provide one-on-one assistance, and the Tech Center is open from early morning through late night while classes are in session.

Classrooms:
Centennial Hall features multimedia classrooms with built in Audio-Visual equipment. Live video conferencing and multimedia displays are available in all instructional spaces on campus.

Networking:

Internet access is available all over campus, and dorms have both wired and WiFi connections available in each room. Additionally, all students receive an email account,  plenty of network storage accessible from any campus computer, as well as Microsoft OneDrive storage accessible from nearly any device. If you need help connecting to the network, contact the Help Desk.

Computers:
Bluffton University provides student-use computers in many locations around campus, including common areas of the dorms. Bluffton strongly encourages students to bring their own computers to campus.  Access to digital information is an important part of all academic programs and students who want to work in their room with 24-hour access should bring their own computer. Many students choose to bring a laptop. If you will be purchasing a computer, we encourage you to review our Student Technology recommendations beforehand.

Software:
Because we recognize the importance of common software tools for a successful academic program, Bluffton University is pleased to provide Microsoft Office to all currently enrolled students for use on their personal computers. Registered students can download Office free of charge (for both PC and Mac) by logging in with your Bluffton University credentials Please contact the Help Desk if you have questions or need support.

Help Desk: 
The Information Technology Department assists students connecting to the campus network, mapping the student's home directory, researching suspicious phishing email  and accessing Bluffton email and software resources.  Contact the help desk by email helpdesk@bluffton.edu.

 

Students and personal technology

Hester Graphic Arts Studio, in Sauder Visual Arts Studio, is a modern Mac lab and lecture room that is equipped with a large projection screen with digital projector; and a variety of digital resources. 

Academic Departments  Most departments feature small computer labs designed to meet that department's specific hardware and software needs.

Residence Halls  All residence halls feature WiFi and small computer labs that are open 24 hours. All residence hall rooms have wired network connections as well.
