SMUCKER LECTURE SERIES
Each year a guest speaker is invited to present the Smucker Lecture Series Forum presentation
and lead a workshop. Professionals are invited to attend for CEU credit. The Smucker
Lecture began by honoring Carl Smucker who helped establish Bluffton's social work
program in 1944.
SOCIAL WORK CLUB
The Social Work Club gives students an opportunity to gather to enrich their knowledge and understanding
of the profession, to engage in service projects and to develop organizational leadership
skills. This active organization plans events for the entire campus, such as "blue
day" in support of Child Abuse Awareness Month (pictured).

WELCOME PIZZA PARTY: Social work students and faculty were invited to Walt Paquin's house to enjoy pizza and good company and to create bonds within the organization.

TRICK-OR-CANNING: This annual event is held on trick-or-treat night. Social work club members go door-to-door asking people to donate canned goods to the Bluffton Food Pantry.
- RED SAND PROJECT: This was a Thursday Night Spotlight event to create awareness about human trafficking and slave trade. The club invited an educational speaker, and students were sent out with red sand to fill cracks in the sidewalks to represent the victims of human trafficking.
