Mentorship program

Project H.O.M.E. (Hope, Opportunity, Mentorship and Education) seeks to help incoming underrepresented students become better oriented academically and socially into the Bluffton University community.

Incoming students are matched with upper class mentors who have applied and been accepted into the program. Mentors and mentees meet on a regular basis. The program organizes exclusive workshops, trips and social events to acquaint new underrepresented students to campus and the surrounding communities.

In addition, the upper class mentors participate in the Leadership Development Program organized by the student life staff, and are matched with alumni who will serve as the students' mentors as they transition from Bluffton to the professional world.

Activities include:

  • Fall kick off events
  • Alumni, mentor and mentee gatherings
  • Trips to orient students to Bluffton and the surrounding communities
  • Academic and transitional workshops such as time management, class scheduling and financial aid
  • End of the semester social
