In a busy week for the Bluffton University women’s tennis team (3-4, 2-3) the Beavers split their matches, going 2-2 for the week. Bluffton started out the week with a victory over arch rival Defiance College, 6-3. The Beavers continued to play well as they defeated NCAA Division II opponent Findlay University 8-1. Going into the weekend the Beavers traveled to Anderson University for a three way match against Anderson and Franklin. Against Anderson, Bluffton lost a close match 5-4 and then fell to Franklin 8-1.
Freshman Chelsey Person (Bellefontaine/Bellefontaine) continues to dominate her No. 6 singles slot winning all her matches this week, she is still undefeated in varsity singles competition. Against Defiance and Findlay, Sophomore Jenna Liechty (Goshen, Ind./Bethany Christian) looked very impressive not dropping a set in either match. The doubles partners of senior Stephanie Keefe (Tiffin/Calvert) and junior Kara Schrock (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge) and the team of sophomore Lisa Cherry (Waterville/Anthony Wayne) and Chelsey Person went undefeated in doubles against Defiance and Findlay winning handedly in both matches.
The Beavers will be back in action this Thursday when they travel to Tiffin. Match time is set for 3 p.m.
