   The
Bluffton College women’s (1-5) soccer team picked up their first win of the 2003 campaign in a 4-0 shutout over Concordia on Friday night. The win is the Beavers first since September 21, 2002.

   Leading the Beavers was Jennifer Byrne (Oak Harbor/Oak Harbor) who had three goals on the match. Jennifer Hoyt (Springfield/Kenton Ridge) scored the other lone goal for Bluffton. Heather Brooke (Defiance/Defiance) and Gina Berelsman (Delphos/Delphos-Jefferson) posted one assist each for the match. Byrne was honored as Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference player of the week for her hat trick against Concordia.

   Goalkeeper Rochelle Saccomen (Ashland/Ashland) had 10 saves on the day. Saccomen is currently leading the Heartland Conference
in saves per game (13.80) and ranks second in saves (69).

  
Bluffton will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Cincinnati Bible. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
