Karin Schaller and Tanya Rickenberg named to Tourney team

TIFFIN, OHIO – The Bluffton College women’s basketball team (0-2) dropped Saturday night’s contest to Heidelberg College 79-40. Heidelberg moves to 2-0 on the year. The game concluded play in the Heidleberg Tip-Off Tourney. Friday night Bluffton lost to The Apprentice School 50-47.

Two Beavers were honored for their efforts in the tournament. Freshman Tanya Rickenberg (Defiance/Paulding) and sophomore Karin Schaller (Jenera/Arlington) were named to the All-Tournament team.

Rickenberg led the Beavers in scoring on Saturday, posting 18 points along with three rebounds and three steals. Schaller for the second night was in double digits with 10 points and led the team in rebounds with seven, throwing in four blocks.

Bluffton shot 35 percent from the floor, compared to Heidelberg’s 46 percent. The Beavers will be back in action Wednesday night when they travel to Muskingum College (1-1). Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
