Volleyball team participates in Ohio Wesleyan Invitational

The Bluffton University Volleyball (7-10) team completed a light week with only one event in the past seven days. The team participated in the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational last Friday and Saturday. Splitting the four games the Beavers beat Grove City (30-25, 30-22, 30-26) and Hanover College ((26-30), 30-27, 30-27, 30-22) while falling to Ohio Wesleyan (31-29 31-29, 30-22) and Anderson University (30-19, 30-19, (30-26), 32-30).
Senior Courtney Tisher (Rittman/Rittman) led the way for the Beavers with 53 kills and nine errors in 119 attempts. Tisher also contributed five aces, 14 blocks and 20 digs to the team total. Keri Kuhlman (Shelby/Shelby) tallied 51 kills, and 12 blocks for Bluffton. Junior setter Leslie Overmyer (Payne/Wayne Trace) added an even 100 assists on the weekend.
Leading the Beavers on defense was Senior Kelly Kettinger (Oregon/Clay) with 102 digs; she also added two serving aces to the score. Freshman Rachel Alvarez (Convoy/Crestview) contributed 63 digs to the defense and 34 kills to the offense.
Bluffton will be back in action as they open Heartland Conference play this week by traveling to Mount St. Joe on Tuesday. Game time is scheduled for
