Beavers win three matches on week

   The Bluffton University volleyball team (4-7) improved their record this week by winning three matches.  Beating Oberlin in three matches, 30-24, 30-21 and 30-22 at home on Wednesday and competing in the Wooster Invitational on the weekend.

 

   Leading the Beavers against Oberlin were the three team captains.   Erin Kreim (New Washington/Buckeye Central) had 28 attacks, 21 digs and 14 kills.  Courtney Tisher (Rittman/Rittman) contributed 25 attacks and two service aces. Kelly Kettinger (Oregon/Clay) led the Beavers in service receptions with 18.   
 

   During the first game of the weekend the Beavers lost to Urbana (18-30, 16-30, 26-30), the team then bounced back to win the next two games against Olivet (30-28, 30-26, 30-21) and Marietta (30-22, 30-23, 30-21), loses to Heidelberg (30-18, (30-24), 30-26, 30-28) and Wooster (30-19, 30-23, 30-23) rounded out the weekend.  
 

   Senior Courtney Tisher was named to the All-Tournament team for herefforts during the weekend.  Tisher contributed 37 kills, eight aces, eight digs, and 12 blocks to the team effort. Junior Keri Kuhlman (Shelby/Shelby) had a team high 53 kills, she also added 17 blocks, and five digs.  Erin Kreim (New Washington/Buckeye Central) tallied 34 kills, 62 digs, and four serving aces on the weekend.  
 

   The Beavers will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Ohio Wesleyan. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.  Bluffton will then be on the road this weekend as they compete in the Denison Quad.
