Bluffton teams named Academic All-HCAC

Bluffton places six teams on Academic All-HCAC

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University student-athletes wrapped up a banner 2011-12 school year with an impressive six teams earning Academic All-HCAC distinction, including five women's squads. The Fall sports saw four teams honored (men's and women's cross country, volleyball and women's soccer) while the women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams were recognized for their work during the Spring semester.

In order to qualify for this honor, the team GPA awards are based upon the team having a GPA of 3.25 at the end of the term in which the sport season ends. It is not a cumulative GPA requirement. The average GPA for the team members at the end of the season in which it participated must equal or surpass 3.25.

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference recently announced the spring honorees of the HCAC All-Academic awards for the 2011-12 school year. Bluffton University had 20 spring athletes recognized for their efforts in the classroom. Baseball along with track and field led the way for the Beavers with nine and six honorees, respectively.
