Beavers compete at Findlay Classic

Fisher and Johnson pace Beavers at Findlay

FINDLAY, Ohio - The Bluffton University track and field teams competed at the University of Findlay Classic on January 29-30, 2010. The meet was unscored.

Leading the men was senior Robert Johnson (Columbus/Marion Franklin) who placed seventh in the 60 meter dash (7.02) and 15th in the 200 meters (23.17). Senior Jason Fisher (Rockford/Parkway) placed ninth in the shot put (47-03) and 11th in the weight throw (52-01.25). The distance medley relay team of senior Ben Siebert (Celina), freshman Jeremy Kidder (New Carlisle/Tecumseh), senior Justin Shearer (Loudonville), and sophomore Andrew Chaffee (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) took 10th (12:20.40).
 
Also placing for the Beavers on the men’s side was junior Michael Timpe (Swanton) who came in 25th in the 600 meters (1:35.55); Kidder, who placed 29th in the 800 meters (2:21.62); Chaffee was 39th in the 3000 meters (10:12.27); sophomore Brian Heckathorn (Hartville/Lake) placed 27th in the shot put (39-04.50) and 36th in the weight throw (37-08).
 
On the women’s side, the distance medley relay of freshman Katy Heffner (Troy), senior Sarah Binkley (Bluffton/Cory-Rawson), freshman Alison Janzen (Whitewater, Kansas/Remington) and sophomore Heather Smith (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) placed 13th (15:08.15).

Also placing for the Beavers were junior Megan Koch (Elida) who placed 26th in the 400 meters (1:07.27) and 39th in the 200 meter (29.19); sophomore Megan Neal (Arlington) placed 26th in shot put (31-01) and 31st in the weight throw (37-06); sophomore Allison Trent (Orrville/Smithville) placed 29th in weight throw (38-00.75) and 32nd in shot put (29-07.25); freshman Delyah Kubitz (Ashtabula/Edgewood) took 30th in shot put (31-00) and 37th in weight throw (30-07.50); freshman Elizabeth Brown (Edon/Edon) placed 30th in the 400 meters (1:09.04); senior Donelle Parker (Painsville/Thomas W. Harvey) placed 46th in the 60 meter dash (8.99) and 48th in the 200 meters (30.44).

Bluffton returns to action at Taylor University on February 6, 2010.
