Bluffton participates in the ONU Friday Night Series Meet

ADA, Ohio - The Bluffton University men and women’s track team competed at the Ohio Northern Friday Night Series Meet on Feb. 25. The Beavers had a strong meet as the men placed sixth and the women finished seventh.

On the men’s side the 4x200 meter relay team made up of junior Ben Dodds (West Liberty/Bellefontaine), freshman Kevin Davis (Albion, Mich./Albion), senior Aaron Williams (Lima/Lima Senior) and sophomore Shandon North (Galion/Galion) set a new school record with a time of 1:33.00. In the 400-meter dash Shandon North finished first with a time of 52.16. Kevin Davis placed first in the men’s long jump with a jump of 6.87m. In the 800-meter run sophomore Johnny Ichrist (Toledo/Whitmer) placed third with a time of 2:02.06.

For the women, the 4x200 meter relay team made up of sophomore Cindy Allan (Fayette/Archbold), junior Rita Muether (Celina/Celina), senior Jana Hammer (Hamler/Patrick Henry) and senior Amanda Habegger (Berne, Ind./South Adams) improved on the school record they set earlier this season with a time of 1:49.63. In the 5000 meter run freshman Sarah Humphrey (Upper Sandusky/Upper Sandusky) finished second with a time of 19:53.57 and junior Jennifer Creamer (Westerville/Westerville South) placed third with a time of 20:04.37. In the 800-meter run junior Stephanie Welch ((Berne, Ind./South Adams) placed fourth with a time of 2:34.05.

Bluffton’s next meet will be at the DePauw Qualifier on March 5.
