Softball splits in day two of Rebel Games

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Bluffton University softball team (3-1) defeated Kean University 3-0 and dropped their second game of the day to Saint Francis 4-3.

 

Softball warms up for a game in FloridaSenior Allison Lange (Archbold/Archbold) posted the lone extra base hit of game one as she knocked out a double. Junior pitcher Sarah Betts (Bryan/Bryan) posted 15 strikeouts in the first game and recorded the shutout win. The Beavers won the contest 3-0.

 

In game two Bluffton found themselves tied 3-3 late in the game, but lost the contest when St. Francis scored a lone run in the top of the seventh inning. Bluffton failed to score in the bottom half of the inning to pick up the loss 4-3. Senior Michelle Pleiman (Yorkshire/Minster) connected on a double for the Beavers only extra base hit. Betts posted eight strikeouts on the mound in the second game.

The Beavers will face Maryville (12:30 p.m.) and Muskingum (4:10 p.m.) on Friday in their final day of the Rebel Spring Games.
