Betts throws two no-hitters for season so far, posts 0.55 ERA

Betts posts a 7-1 record for the season with her only loss going to Wartburg, the No. 8 (D III) team in the nation. She threw her second consecutive no-hitter last Saturday in a 1-0 decision over Adrian College. Betts posted nine strikeouts and no walks for the contest. Her first no-hitter of the year came in the final outing of the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla. against the Milwaukee School of Engineering, 8-0.

“I’m very pleased and excited for Sarah,” head coach Holly Spann said. “It’s well deserved and a great way to start the season. Sarah’s worked hard in the last year and it’s evident by her presence on the field and her ability to work batters.”

For the season Betts posts a 0.55 ERA with 68 strikeouts in 50.2 innings pitched. She has allowed only 15 hits, seven walks and six runs for the season.

Bluffton College will be back in action on Tuesday at home vs. Wittenberg for a doubleheader. Game time is scheduled for 3 pm.
