The Beavers had their best season ever as they accumulated a 26-8 overall record and a 12-2 record in the HCAC. The team’s 26 overall wins were a new school record with their 12 conference wins tying the conference regular season wins record. First-year head coach Holly Spann was named HCAC co-coach of the year for leading the Beavers to the 2004 Heartland Conference championship.
Sophomore pitcher Sarah Betts (Bryan/Bryan) was named the Most Valuable Player of the 
Heartland Conference and All-HCAC first team for the incredible season she had on the mound. Betts broke every Bluffton softball single season pitching record in 2004 and she now owns the career strikeout record. Sarah finished the season with a 25-7 record, 0.74 ERA, 29 complete games, 11 shutout wins, 209 innings pitched, 273 strikeouts, and an opponent batting average of .146. In two years Betts has accumulated 399 total strikeouts. She ranked nationally (NCAA DIII) in ERA, strikeouts per seven innings and total victories. This year was her second season being chosen for all-conference honors.
Junior

The centerfielder dominated the Beaver’s bats in the season as she broke seven season hitting records (.522 batting average, 48 hits, 14 doubles, five home runs, 81 total bases, .880 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage). Lange ranked nationally (NCAA DIII) in batting average, doubles per game and slugging percentage.
Junior shortstop Mandy Snider (Wapakoneta/Wapakoneta) was also chosen first-team HCAC. Snider posted the second 
highest batting average (.323) and slugging percentage (.385) on the team this past season. She was 10-for-13 in stolen bases and committed only eight errors in the field for a .900 fielding percentage.
