The team now posts 12 Heartland Conference wins which ties Transylvania University for the most HCAC victories in a season. Sophomore Sarah Betts (Bryan/Bryan) also broke the Bluffton career strikeouts record with 381 to date. The former record was 365 career strikeouts, held by Erin Kurtz who played at BC from 1997-2000. Betts picked up the shutouts by pitching an incredible 23 strikeouts over both games. The two wins improve her record to 25-5 and drops her ERA to 0.73 for the year.
Bluffton had a good matchup in the first game as the score was at zero heading into the eighth inning. The Beavers finally won the game in the bottom of the ninth when junior Lane Leedy (Bellville/Clear Fork) hit the winning run in, when the Raven second baseman bobbled the ball for her to reach first base on an error. Junior Mandy Snider (Wapakoneta/Wapakoneta) posted a double and Betts went 2-for-4 in the contest.
The Beavers had a much easier time in the second game as they eight run ruled the Ravens in five innings. Junior Allison Lange (Archbold/Archbold) went 3-for-3 in the game with two doubles. Junior Jackie Wells (Malinta/Patrick Henry) hit 2-for-3 with a double and Snider posted one double also.
The doubleheader concludes the Beavers regular season with the HCAC tournament being played next Friday and Saturday in
