Softball starts season with a bang

KISSIMMEE, FL. – The Bluffton College softball team (2-0) started the 2004 season on a positive note by winning their first two games of the season on Monday. The wins give first-year head coach Holly Spann her first two collegiate coaching victories.
The Beavers defeated Clarke College 2-0 in their opening contest of the Rebel Spring games. Sophomore pitcher Sarah Betts (Bryan/Bryan) threw a shutout in her first appearance of the season. Mandy Snider (Wapakoneta/Wapakoneta) had a double and on RBI for Bluffton.
In their second game of the day, Bluffton beat Concordia, 2-1. Freshman Mikah Coffindaffer (Maineville/Homeschool) picked up her first win of the season on the mound, allowing four hits for the contest. Michelle Pleiman (Yorkshire/Minster) knocked down a triple for the Beavers in the game.
Bluffton College will continue their spring trip on Tuesday when they play St. Francis at 10:40 am and Widener at 2:20 pm.
