Track and field squad travels to Wooster

Scoring points in 16 events, the Bluffton College track and field squad competed at the Wooster Invitational on March 31. Bluffton will compete in the Wilmington Invitational this Saturday, April 7.

BC scored points in five women’s events, with senior Dawn Daniels and freshman Laurel Miller each accounting for points in two events. Daniels placed in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:14.4 and also in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:37.0. Miller’s 5-0 high jump scored points, as did her 110 meter hurdle time of 17.2 seconds. Ben Noll ran a 2:33.4 in the 800 meter run and the 4x400 meter relay squad collected points with a placing time of 4:43.06.

Bluffton collected points in ten men’s events to finish with 55 points, good for sixth place and just two points away from fourth place. Senior Eric Wilson and freshman Chris Clemens both placed in two events to lead the Beavers. Wilson reached 6-4 in the high jump and ran the 200 meter dash in 23.30 seconds. Clemens tossed the discuss 121-6 and heaved the shot put 41-11.25. Also placing for BC were Randy Hart in the pole vault (10-6), Jamie Stevens in the long jump (19-1), Rick Orr in the shot put (45-5) and Ben Osterland in the 100 meter dash (11.2). The 4x100 meter relay squad scored points with a time of 44.3 seconds, while the 4x400 meter relay quartet scored points with a time of 3:42.09.
