Sophomore Zach Nussbaum picks up first career victory

BLUFFTON, OHIO – The Bluffton College men’s tennis team (2-1) shutout Tiffin University 9-0 Tuesday.  The shutout is the team’s first of the year.  Last season the Beavers had three such victories.

Senior Dan Wott (Fremont/Clyde) and Senior Kyle Sprunger (Berne, Ind./South Adams) both won their singles matches in two sets and have yet to drop a single set this year. Seniors Owen Beck (Archbold/Archbold) and Brad Boyles (Berne, Ind./South Adams) both held their opponent’s without a single point in their singles matches. Sophomore Zack Nussbaum (Berne, Ind./South Adams) collected his first career singles victory in only his third match by a 6-4, 6-1 count. 

The Beavers will be back into action on Wednesday, March 31 when they host Transylvania in their Heartland Conference opener. The match is scheduled to start at 4 pm.

No.1 -  Beck (BC) defeated Mortek (TU) 6-0, 6-0
No. 2 –Boyles (BC) defeated Got (TU) 6-0, 6-0
No. 3 - Wott (BC) defeated Webb (TU) 6-3, 6-1
No. 4 - Sprunger (BC) defeated Barr (TU) 6-1, 6-3
No. 5 - Martin (BC) defeated Mazza (TU) by forfeit (injury)
No. 6 - Nussbaum (BC) defeated Donaldson (TU) 6-4, 6-1

Doubles
No. 1 –Beck and Wott (BC) defeated Mortek and Webb (TU) 8-1
No. 2 - Boyles and Sprunger (BC) defeated Got and Barr (TU) 8-1
No. 3 –Martin and Nussbaum (BC) defeated Mazza and Lepera (TU) 8-1
