The Bluffton College men’s tennis squad was victorious in their first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match of the season Saturday afternoon as the Beavers defeated a visiting Transylvania University squad 7-2.
Four Bluffton individuals notched victories as Kyle Sprunger (Berne, Ind./South Adams) won at #3 singles (6-1, 6-0), David Barnes (Groveport/Tree of Life) won at #4 singles (6-3, 6-3), Garrett Skare (Huber Heights/Wayne) won at #5 singles (6-0, 6-0) and Genti Basha won at #6 singles by forfeit.
All three Bluffton doubles tandems won by forfeit.
Bluffton improves to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the HCAC, while Transylvania falls to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the HCAC.

Two Bluffton individuals notched victories as Owen Beck (Archbold) won at #1 singles (7-6, 2-6, 6-4) and Kyle Sprunger (Berne, Ind./South Adams) won at #3 singles (2-6, 7-5, 6-3).
Beck and Dan Wott (Fremont/Clyde) were winners at #1 doubles (8-2), while Sprunger and David Barnes (Groveport/Tree of Life) won at #2 doubles (9-7).
Bluffton falls to 1-1 on the season, while Baldwin-Wallace improves to 7-2.
