Patrick (Rick) Nussbaum is in his third year as head coach of both the men's and women's soccer programs after serving as an assistant for the five years prior to taking over the reins. “As an assistant coach for five seasons, Rick developed strong relationships with our student athletes and recruits. He believes in the mission of Bluffton University and he wants to be part of moving our athletics program to a new level,” said Phill Talavinia, athletics director.
“It is a pleasure to announce Rick’s appointment as head coach. In his interim role, Rick’s leadership this past season yielded positive results both on and off the field,” Talavinia said. “We are excited for Rick to draw from his past head coaching successes as he develops strong soccer programs at Bluffton.” In only his second season as head coach, Nussbaum led the women’s team to its best-ever record in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (5-3-1) and an 11-5-2 mark overall en route to Bluffton's first ever HCAC championsip match. The men’s team posted a 1-8 record in the conference and was 2-16 overall in 2011.
