Huntington scores early in OT for 1-0 win over Beavers

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's soccer team fought hard against Huntington University on Saturday, September 18, 2010, ending regulation time with a scoreless tie, and forcing the game into overtime. A Huntington score less than a minute into extra time sent the Beavers to their third consecutive defeat.
Brandon Gamble hauled in a Kyle Geiss cross just 38 seconds into overtime and took advantage of the mass of players in front of the goalkeeper, giving the visitors a 1-0 victory over the Beavers.
Freshman Zach Sturm (Grove City) and Jacob Graham (Elida) paced Bluffton with four shots apiece, while senior Brian Good (Elida) tallied three shots. Michael Timpe (Swanton) put both of his attempts on frame.
Bluffton University fired 17 shots, while holding Huntington to just 13. The Beavers forced four corner kicks, one more than the Foresters. Junior Dan Saville (Toledo/Central Catholic) recorded six saves in the loss and thwarted numerous other Huntington chances.
The Beavers continue their 2010 season in Bluffton on September 22 against Marygrove College. The contest is slated for 4 p.m. at the Salzman Complex.
