BLUFFTON, Ohio –The Bluffton University men’s soccer team (6-11, 2-4 HCAC) fell by a final score of 1-0 to Defiance College (5-10, 3-3 HCAC) on Wednesday, October 26, 2005.
The men’s soccer team gave the Beaver faithful much to cheer about as Bluffton controlled the first half against the Yellow Jackets on a windy October afternoon. The Beaver offense had scoring opportunities, including two crosses that Nate Flath (Wadsworth/Wadsworth) headed off of the top post early in the second half, but it could not put the ball in the net. Defiance slipped a shot past the Beaver defense midway through the second half and it proved to be the game’s only score. Junior Justin Rohrer (Millersburg/West Holmes) led Bluffton with five shots while sophomore Tyler Chapman (Shreve/Triway) finished with four shots for the contest. Junior goalkeeper Ryan Thomas (Jamestown/Greeneview) recorded eight saves, seven in the second half, in the loss to the Yellow Jackets.
Bluffton will return to action on Friday, October 28 when it travels to play Thomas More. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
