BLUFFTON, OHIO – Despite a great effort in the last home game of the season, the Bluffton College men’s soccer team (4-11-1, 0-5 HCAC) were defeated in the last 12 minutes of the contest 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Beavers found themselves up 1-0 early in the game to only find the Yellow Jackets come back 15 minutes later to score and put up a tie 1-1. Bluffton would then go up 2-1 to find the score tied 2-2 once more. In the 79th minute of the contest, Defiance would put a goal in off a free kick to take the lead 3-2 and with only 48 seconds left the Yellow Jackets would put one more in for the final tally, 4-2.
Robert Rohrer (Millersburg/West Holmes) would score both goals for the Beavers on the contest. Diego Rodriguez (Kalona, Iowa/Iowa Mennonite) would post the assists on the both goals for the match. Goalkeeper Ryan Thomas (Jamestown/Greeneview) would post five saves at goal.
Bluffton will be back in action this weekend at Franklin College for a men’s/women’s doubleheader. The men are slated for a 2 p.m. kickoff with the women starting at noon.
