BLUFFTON, OHIO – The Bluffton men’s soccer (1-3) team picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday night, defeating Concordia 4-3 in overtime. Jon Lindow scored the game-winning goal with 3:24 left in overtime.
“We are very excited for Steve and his team on his first collegiate win,” Athletics Director Phill Talavinia said. “We know that the future of the Bluffton soccer program is extremely bright.”
Things did not start out on the good side for Bluffton as they found themselves down 2-0 at the end of the first half. Jon Lindow and Diego Rodriguez came out and scored two goals early in the second half to tie the game at two. Concordia scored once more with the Beavers Mike Moore scoring with only two seconds left in the contest to tie the game at three and send it to overtime.
“We played with a lot of heart to come back from a two-goal deficit,” Coach Steve Smucker said. “To score with two seconds left is significant because we fought until the end.”
Ricky Stoner and Chad Perry each posted an assist, with Rodriguez having two assists on the day.
Bluffton will host Rochester this Saturday at 3 p.m. for their home opener of the season.
