BC preps for scrimmage
BC to host Wilmington College in scrimmage Saturday
August 22, 2001
Area football fans can get their first look at the 2001 Bluffton College football team on Saturday afternoon as the Beavers host Wilmington College for a scrimmage at 2:00 p.m. in Salzman Stadium.
Bluffton returns 14 starters (7 on offense, 7 on defense) from last season’s squad, which finished 7-3 overall and tied for the Heartland Conference championship. Leading the returnees are last season’s all-league selections Brad Moore (Norwalk) at quarterback, Rick Orr (Beaverdam/Bluffton) at offensive guard and Josh Slaughter (Columbus/East) at defensive back.
Wilmington, which finished 7-3 last season and 7-2 in their first season in the Ohio Athletic Conference, also returns many starters, including quarterback Adam Ryan and All-America receiver Jon Cain, who combined to lead the Quaker offense to an average of 429 yards per game last season. In addition, the Wilmington defense returns preseason All-Americans Antonio Broadnax at defensive back.
The scrimmage is open to the public and free of charge.
