Basketball Teams End Season With Banquet and AwardsBy Matt Scholz, SID Assistant

The men's and women's basketball teams ended their seasons the past two Sundays with their award banquets. On the men's team three players shared the Offensive MVP award-- Jeremy Roberts, Ben Coole and Chris Sheldon, while the Defensive MVP award was given to Travis Elsass. On the women's team the Most Improved award was given to Melissa James and the Unsung Hero award went to Kristy Crall.
Roberts was named first team All-HCAC for the second year in a row after leading the league with 20 points per game. Roberts was named the HCAC Player of the Week three times during the season. Roberts also joined the elite 1000 point club for Bluffton basketball.
Coole was second on the team and tenth in the HCAC in scoring with 13.1 points per game. His .607 field goal percentage was first in the league and 16th in the country, while his 40 blocks also led the HCAC.
Sheldon received honorable mention All-HCAC. He lead the HCAC in assists with 115 and was sixth on team in scoring with 5.5 points per game. Sheldon shot 43% from behind the arc, made 83% of his foul shots and had 37 steals.
Elsass had a team leading 39 steals and his 58 assists were third on the team. He was also selected as a member of the All-Tournament team in the Second Annual McDonald's of Bluffton Holiday Tournament.
James ranked third on the team in steals with 28 and her 111 rebounds also placed third on the team. She also had 10 blocked shots which ranked second on the team.
Crall recorded the most minutes on the floor for her team and started every game. She ranked second on the team in both steals (48) and assists (75).
