BC shuts out the Yellow Jackets

The Bluffton women's volleyball team shut Defiance down in Heartland Conference action on October 4 by a 3-0 score (15-7, 15-6, and 15-11). Bluffton's record is now 13-10 on the season and 2-1 in the Heartland Conference.

The Beavers were able to come off a loss to Franklin on September 30, by defending their home court against Defiance College. Although times started to get a little tough for the Beavers into the third game they were able to hold on and shut out the Yellow Jackets. The Beavers were able to play all 11 girls, giving them all experience to use in the latter part of the season.

Junior Mandy Pequignot led the team with 13 kills. Also leading the team were junior Erica Jellison and Alison Harrer both with 15 digs, junior Lisa Rathburn with 5 aces, and senior Betsy Hook with 6 blocks. These girls are also leading the team in overall stats: Pequignot with 280 kills also with attack % of 32.60, Harrer with 346 digs, and Hook with 74 blocks.

The Beavers next match was on October 10 at home against Denison. They will then travel to Anderson for a conference match with the Ravens on October 17th.
