Beavers pick up lone win at Franklin College

FRANKLIN, IND. – The Bluffton College baseball team (8-25, 3-12 HCAC) took the first game of the three game series at
Junior Jason Moore (Elida/Elida) won his second game of the season on Friday, going the distance in nine innings. He posted seven strikeouts and gave up five hits on the outing. Senior Jim Dwenger (Minster/Minster) went 2-for-3 at the plate.
In the first game of the doubleheader, sophomore Riordan McClain (Upper Sandusky/Upper Sandusky) posted a hit and the Beavers lone run. McClain reached on a single and was batted in by Ryan Fiely (Greenville/Greenville Sr.)two batters last in the top of the sixth. Senior Josh Underwood (Bluffton/Cory-Rawson) threw five strikeouts with his record falling to 5-3 for the season.
Sophomore Tony Gerig (West Unity/Hilltop) knocked out Bluffton’s lone hit in the third game of the series. Sophomore Randy Miller (Willard/Willard) picked up the loss going to 1-7 for 2004.
Bluffton College will be back in action this Thursday and Friday when they host HCAC opponent Hanover College. Thursday’s game is scheduled for 4 pm with the doubleheader starting at noon on Friday.
