Beavers win one against Manchester in HCAC play

BLUFFTON, OHIO - The Beaver baseball team took one of the three-game series vs. Manchester (15-4, 4-2 HCAC) to improve their record to 5-16, 1-5 HCAC. Friday Bluffton lost the contest 10-4. On Saturday the Beavers split as they won the first game 4-1 and lost the second game 10-1.

In game one of the series on Friday, junior Ryan Fiely (Greenville/Greenville Sr.) posted two doubles for Bluffton. Senior Kyle Alberson (Berne, Ind./South Adams) posted a double and a home run at the plate. Bluffton would drop the game 10-4.

In the first game on Saturday, the Beavers used excellent fielding along with using two clutch Spartan errors to take an early lead 2-1 in the bottom of the first. The Beavers would post two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to end their scoring effort. Sophomore Riordan McClain (Upper Sandusky/Upper Sandusky) hit a double in the game for the only extra base hit. Bluffton would end game one of the doubleheader breaking their seven game losing streak with the win, 4-1.

The Beavers led in game two 1-0 until the top of the fourth when Manchester scored three runs. The tide turned as the Spartans bats came alive as they would score in every inning for the rest of the game. Senior Luke Clouse (Rockford/Parkway) and Alberson knocked out a double each for the Beavers. Game two final was 10-1 in favor of Manchester.

Bluffton College will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Capital University for a single 9-inning game. Start time is scheduled for 4 pm.
