Search committee

The search committee for the 10th Bluffton University president includes representation from trustees, faculty, staff, student, alumni, select church conferences, the Bluffton community and Mennonite Education Agency (MEA). Cheryl Hacker ’81, vice chair of the Board of Trustees, from Columbus, Ohio, will chair of the committee.

Presidential search committee members

Trustee members:

  • Larry Milan ’73, trustee and chair of the student life committee, is the senior vice president and chief human resources officer for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, Conn. Milan is from Bloomfield, Conn.
  • Ernie Thomas ’76, trustee and chair of the fiscal affairs committee, has worked in corporate management and finance. Most recently, he was senior vice president and chief financial officer at CF Industries Holdings and RPM International. Thomas is from Richfield, Ohio.
  • Greg Wannemacher ’77, trustee and chair of the enrollment management committee, is chairman of Wannemacher Total Logistics, a packaging, warehousing and distribution business. Wannemacher is from Lima, Ohio.

Faculty and staff members:

  • Dr. Perry Bush, professor of history, is from Bluffton, Ohio.
  • James Grandey, head baseball coach and associate athletic director for development, is from Bluffton, Ohio.
  • Dr. Gayle Trollinger, chair of the education department and professor of education, is from Findlay, Ohio.

Student representative:

  • Katey Ebaugh ’18, current student and former student senate president, is from Lancaster, Pa.


Alumni representative:

  • Luke Shipp ’04, President of the Bluffton University Alumni Association, is vice president of commercial lines, First Insurance Group. He is from Haskins, Ohio.

Bluffton Community representative:

  • Laura Voth ’79, MBA ’08, CEO of Mennonite Home Communities, is from Bluffton, Ohio

Mennonite Church USA conference representatives:

  • Dr. Kerry Strayer ’84, Central District Conference, trustee and chair of the academic affairs committee, is an associate professor in the department of communication at Otterbein University. Strayer is from Columbus, Ohio.
  • Arnita Yoder ’84, Ohio Conference, is a math teacher at Delphos City Schools. She is from Delphos, Ohio.

Mennonite Education Agency appointment:

  • Dr. Tom Stuckey, member of the Mennonite Education Agency board, is president of Northwest State Community College in Archbold, Ohio. Stuckey is from West Unity, Ohio.
