Goal 1: To provide an excellent undergraduate education which meets the requirements of the university and the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education, culminating in a baccalaureate degree.
Outcome measures:
- All graduates who respond to the survey will rate their undergraduate knowledge and skills at a level of average knowledge or above.
- Graduates will achieve an 80 percent pass rate for first time test takers on the RD exam over a 5-year period.
- At least 80 percent of all juniors who declare a major in food & nutrition, dietetics concentration, will complete the program.
Goal 2: To provide students with educational learning experiences that meet didactic program requirements, including those that take place at various community and healthcare agencies in our geographic region, to enable the application of theory to practice at the undergraduate level.
Outcome measures:
- 80 percent of graduate survey responses will state “helpful” or “very helpful” to the section listing experiential learning opportunities.
- Students will score a minimum of 85 percent on assigned patient visitation and assessment activities performed at the local healthcare facility for the classes FCS 375, Medical Nutrition Therapy I and FCS 376, Medical Nutrition Therapy II.
- Students will participate in at least two learning experiences per year that take place in the community or at healthcare agencies, in their junior and senior years.
Goal 3: To prepare students to qualify for entry into post-baccalaureate supervised practice programs or entry-level positions not requiring ADA registration.
Outcome measures:
- At least 90 percent of all students who apply will be accepted into supervised practice experiences or post-graduate educational programs.
- All current students will maintain a minimum of 2.75 overall GPA and 3.0 in the major coursework.
- 80 percent of supervised program directors will rate program graduates as “better prepared” or “about the same” preparation compared to other students who participate in their internship.
Goal 4: The program’s collective resources will be used effectively and efficiently to assure appropriate student education, while meeting budgetary constraints.
Outcome measures:
- 80 percent of students who complete a course evaluation form indicate average or higher (scored as 3.0 to 5.0) on Question 4 – Organization- “Effective use of class time,” and Question 7 – Interaction- “The instructor’s observance of posted office hours and availability for consultation.”
- Institutional auditors, including administrators, will judge the program’s use of space and budgetary resources as efficient according to commonly accepted guidelines.
- 80 percent of responses on surveys will indicate “valuable” or “most valuable” to the statement “How valuable were the following NTR courses to your professional development?”
