Dietetics internship application time line

September/October

Review the current Directory of Dietetic Programs book and the Applicants Guideline to Dietetic Internships notebook and select internships you are interested in exploring further.

October/November

Gather specific information about internships. Check websites of the sponsoring organization (hospital, university, community group, etc.) to find out general information. Be professional in all correspondence. Check if an open house is available and put on schedule to visit.

Early December

Review the materials you have received and decide to which programs to apply. Consult with your parents,  significant other and program director. Setting up a grid that compares the features of each internship can be helpful.

December/January

Request recommendation letters. It may be advisable to do this before leaving for break if it is a faculty member. Request transcripts.

Plan on using the semester break to fill out the standard application. The first one is always hardest, because you have to collect detailed information and data. Write letters of application, giving careful thought to the questions the various internships ask. Write more than one draft and revise it for each internship application.

February

Assemble the complete application packet for each internship. Mail on or before the postmark deadline for spring appointments.

Fill out and mail computer matching form to D & D Digital.

April

Internship notification day
