American Bankers Association
The ABA serves as the voice of the American banking industry. Their website offers information on industry issues, conferences, community development, surveys and statistics and more.

Bankrate.com
Offers a range of rate information, as well as a section for basic information on subjects like home equity and credit cards. Contains financial calculators for a variety of purposes (e.g. mortgage), and relevant news.

Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System
Contains press releases, the text of testimony and speeches, and articles from the Federal Reserve Bulletin. Offers information about the Fed and its functions and includes links to the 12 Federal Reserve Districts. Includes the Beige Book, a periodic summary of U.S. economic conditions.

FDIC Institution Directory
Allows you to search for FDIC institutions using a number of criteria. Provides financial and demographic data.

Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland
This bank serves the Fourth Federal Reserve District, which includes Ohio. Its website offers links to information on Education Resources, Economic Research and Data, Services for Financial Institutions and more.

International Monetary Fund
Describes the purposes of the IMF and offers access to various IMF publications. Includes sections on the IMF at Work, IMF Finances, Country Info and News.

National Information Center (NIC)
This site "provides comprehensive information on banks and other institutions for which the Federal Reserve has a supervisory, regulatory, or research interest." Beige Book: Summary of Commentary on Current Economic Conditions
Published eight times a year, this publication contains a summary of anecdotal information concerning economic conditions. This information is gathered by the various Federal Reserve Banks and then organized by district.

Bureau of Economic Analysis
From the Department of Commerce, this site provides National Income and Product Accounts (NIPA) tables, as well as state, regional and international data. The full text of several years of the BEA's Survey of Current Business is also available.

Bureau of Labor Statistics
From the Department of Labor, the BLS provides information in the area of labor economics and statistics. On its website, users will find categories on inflation and consumer spending; wages, earnings and benefits; employment and unemployment; productivity; demographics and more.

Congressional Budget Office
The CBO describes its mission in part as helping the Congress develop a budget plan and helping it consider budget and economic policy issues. This site provides access to budget and economic information, such as the Monthly Budget Review, as well as to a range of CBO publications, accessible by subject or document type.

EconData.net
Billed as "Your guide to regional economic data on the web," this site is sponsored by the Commerce Department's Economic Development Administration. It offers over 900 links to socioeconomic data sources. Users can view links by subject (e.g. demographics, employment) or by provider (e.g. Census, state & local). There's also a page for Data Collections and Ten Best Sites.

Index of Economic Freedom
This site offers information about the economic freedom of countries. Categories that can be analyzed and scored include trade policy, government intervention, property rights, black market and more. From the Heritage Foundation and the Wall Street Journal.

Inflation Calculator
Use this site to adjust a given amount for inflation, covering the years 1800 - 2005.

Institute for Research on Poverty
The IRP calls itself "a national, university-based center for research into the causes and consequences of poverty and social inequality in the United States." Their site provides information pertaining to research, IRP initiatives, conferences, publications and events. Based at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Library of Economics and Liberty
Offers the texts of classic works in economics. Users can search the site or an individual book as well as browse books and essays by title, date or author. The Concise Encyclopedia of Economics is available for searching or browsing. Also accessible are quotations, articles and links to other sites.

McMaster University Archive for History of Economic Thought
As is noted on the site's homepage, this is an effort "to collect in one place a large number of significant texts in the history of economic thought." Users can select from a lengthy list of authors. Entries may include excerpts or complete texts.

Monthly Labor Review
From the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the MLB offers articles pertaining to the labor force, employment, inflation, productivity and more. The archive contains articles back to 1988. An index offers access by subject.

Office of Management and Budget
Provides access to the President's Budget, including Analytical Perspectives and Historical Tables. Several previous years of budget information are available as well.

Resources for Economists on the Internet
Described in a Choice review as "the preeminent site for finding economic links on the Web," this site is sponsored by the American Economic Association. It includes more than 1300 resources listed in over 90 sections and sub-sections. Among the major categories: dictionaries, glossaries & encyclopedias; forecasting & consulting; data; meetings & conferences.

Trade and Economy: Data and Analysis
This site comes from the Commerce Department's Office of Trade and Economic Analysis. Major categories on the site include trade data, trade analysis and industry information. Under Key Links, users can jump to global data links, U.S. foreign trade highlights, state export data, U.S. industry sector data and more.

U.S. Department of the Treasury
Offers information on Key Topics, such as accounting and budget, currency and coins, financial markets, small business and more. Links to the various Treasury offices (e.g. Economic Policy) and bureaus (e.g. Bureau of the Public Debt). The Press Room offers access to testimony, reports, news releases, speeches and statements.

Chicago Board of Trade
Established in 1848, the CBOT is the world's oldest futures and futures-options exchange. This site contains sections on Quotes and Data, Market Info, and a Knowledge Center.

Salary.com
This site offers the Salary Wizard, which estimates your worth based on job category and geographical location. Another section allows you to calculate your compensation package. In addition, there are categories for advice, self-tests, cost-of-living, a mortgage center and more.

CNN Money
Offers business and financial news, in cooperation with Money magazine and the CNNfn television network.

FINWeb
Managed by a professor at Baylor University, FINWeb is a financial economics website that contains links to journals, working papers, databases and other useful websites.

House Committee on Financial Services
Provides information about the committee, including its members, jurisdiction and rules. Also links to the various subcommittees, and offers access to information on hearings and legislation.

OSU Virtual Finance Library
From OSU's Department of Finance, this site provides numerous links in a range of categories, including banks, exchanges, world market, insurers, investment banks, and current quotes. Specific sections are provided for investors, researchers, students, executives and educators.

U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission
The SEC's primary mission is "to protect investors and maintain the integrity of the securities markets." Their website offers access to EDGAR, and information on regulatory actions. Other sections include investor information, news and public statements, and litigation. A Fast Answers section provides info on a range of topics.

Wachowicz's Web World: Web Sites for Discerning Finance Students
Serves as a portal to a wide range of business-related websites. Created as a supplement to Fundamentals of Financial Management (Van Horne and Wachowicz, 11th ed., Prentice-Hall, 2001), major sections on the website parallel chapters in the book. For example, categories include Introduction to Financial Management; Investment in Capital Assets; and Tools of Financial Analysis and Planning. Also available are online quizzes, PowerPoint slides and Excel spreadsheet templates.

Yahoo! Finance
This site offers up-to-date business and market news. Provides links to information on Today's Markets, Stock Research, Industries, Mutual Funds, and more. Also available is a section on World Markets, offering profiles, exchange rates and more.

Business Ethics Resources on the WWW

This site contains a wealth of data, including information pertaining to population, poverty, income, the economic census, foreign trade and more.

NAICS (North American Industry Classification System)
NAICS serves as the new system for classifying business establishments and replaces the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system. This site can be used to translate NAICS codes into SIC and vice versa.

Online Women's Business Center
As a part of the Small Business Administration's website, it provides a variety of resources geared toward women, including a Finance Center, a listing of women's centers across the country, mentor roundtables, and an FAQ section (e.g. Is there help for women with special needs?).

Survey of Current Business
From the Bureau of Economic Analysis, this publication is available online back to 1994.

From Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations, this site offers information pertaining to human resources and industrial relations. It includes Work index, a collection of relevant websites.

National Labor Relations Board
The NLRB conducts "secret-ballot elections to determine whether employees want union representation and we investigate and remedy unfair labor practices by employers and unions." This site contains a range of relevant information under such headings as Help Desk, Facts, Weekly Summary, and Decisions.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration
Provides a description of OSHA's mission, as well as information pertaining to laws and regulations, compliance assistance and state programs.

Occupational Outlook Handbook
The online version of this standard reference work. Users can search for information on specific occupations, or browse through occupational clusters such as Management or Sales. A part of the Bureau of Labor Statistics website, this site also include links to the Occupational Outlook Quarterly and the Career Guide to Industries.

HRM Online
The website for the Society for Human Resource Management.

Social Security Administration

FITA: International Trade Web Resources
From the Federation of International Trade Associations, this site allows users to search or browse. Categories include international finance, trade and economic statistics, business travel guide and much more. One can search by keyword as well as by country or region.

International Chamber of Commerce
Bills itself as the world business organization. Serves as an advocate for the global economy and exercises influence through its national committees.

International Trade Administration
The ITA is a part of the U.S. Department of Commerce. This site offers access to statistics, export and import information, trade and industry data, information on trade missions and more.

International Trade Statistics
A part of the World Trade Organization’s website, this page offers access to a statistics database as well as to the electronic version of the annual publication International Trade Statistics back to 1998.

OECD Online
The website for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. The OECD includes 30 member countries and maintains relationships with many others. This site provides statistics, information on a range of topics from energy to taxation, and country surveys and reviews.

World Bank Group
This site provides information on the various institutions that make up the World Bank Group. Users can find out about the Bank's strategies, policies and projects. Major sections include Countries & Regions, Data & Statistics, Documents & Reports, News & Media, and more.

World Trade Organization
An excellent place to find general information about the WTO (e.g. origins, organizational chart) This site provides a section on WTO news that includes a collection of news items, press releases and speeches from past years.
