Arts & Humanities Citation Index is a multidisciplinary database covering the journal literature of the arts and humanities. Subjects include art, language, linguistics, literature, music, philosophy, radio, television & film, religion, theatre, and more. With this database, you can do the usual author and topic searches, but then benefit from the cited reference search option. This feature allows the researcher to discover articles that cite a known author or work. Updated weekly. |
CAIRSS (Computer-Assisted Information Retrieval Service System) is a bibliographic database of music research literature emphasizing music education, music psychology, music therapy, and music medicine. Offers selective indexing for over 1,300 journals and complete indexing for 18 primary journals. The database is a joint venture between faculty and staff at the Institute for Music Research at UT-San Antonio and Southern Methodist University. |
NAXOS Music Library (NML) is the world's largest online classical music library. Currently, NML offers streaming access to more than 41,700 CDs with more than 597,700 tracks. On average, 500 new CDs are added to the library every month. The coverage is broad, from classical, world music, and jazz to film music, rock, and nostalgia. Features include multiple search options, pronunciation guide for composer and artist names, work details and/or liner notes for many recordings, and opportunity for students and faculty to create playlists (contact the Research and Information Desk for information). |
NAXOS Music Library Jazz (NMLJ) is one of the most comprehensive collections of jazz music available online, with a mix of jazz legends and contemporary jazz. Currently, NMLJ offers streaming access to more than 3,800 CDs and new CDs are added every month, an invaluable resource for jazz enthusiasts! NAXOS Video Library (NVL) provides streaming access to an extensive (and growing) collection of classical music performances, opera, ballet, live concerts and documentaries. Watch the world's greatest opera houses, ballet companies, orchestras and artists perform on demand! Search videos by composer, production, artist, venue, role or genre. Faculty can create playlists with customized clips from any video for use with classes (contact the Research and Information Desk for information). Libretti and text are included when available. |
The OhioLINK Music Center, a subset of the Naxos Music Library, is an online streaming music database of international works from Classical to Spoken Word. The 78,000+ tracks, 21,000+ works can be searched or browsed by track, title, performer, album, composer and date of composition. Flash player is required. Access to the music files is restricted to the students, faculty and staff of OhioLINK member institutions. |

Oxford Music Online (formerly Grove) is the most comprehensive and authoritative online resource for research into all aspects of music. It includes the full text of The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians (2nd edition); The New Grove Dictionary of Opera; and The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz, (2nd edition). Through a partnership with the music software designer Sibelius, over 500 of Grove's musical examples are now available in sound. The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians is also available in print, at ML100.N48 2001 in the Musselman Library Reading Room. |
