No tests or grades, no quizzes or papers, just individuals gathering to explore a topic of interest for the pure joy of learning. That is what the Institute for Learning in Retirement program is all about.
Sponsored by Bluffton University, the program is designed for retired/semi-retired people. Many of the courses are designed and led by the members of the institute. The Institute for Learning In Retirement offers fall, winter and spring courses at the university. Students may sign up for as many IRL courses as they wish for one set price.
Winston Churchill said, “There is nothing wrong with change, if it is in the right directions.”
The ILR program will have a few changes this fall, primarily new classroom locations due to the $3 million student housing renovation projects. Since the Riley Court classroom space is inaccessible in the fall due to student apartment renovations, we will meet in three accessible locations, with parking access, on Bluffton’s campus.
The Monday classes will be held in a familiar space, the Kreider Room in Marbeck Center, while our movie series will be held in Yoder Recital Hall on Wednesday. Our Thursday classes will be held in Sommer Center’s Reichenbach Room.
Invite your friends, neighbors and family to join you at ILR.
The 2016 fall term begins Sept. 19.
Registration deadline is Sept. 15.
