Six courses form the foundation for the master of arts in education and must be completed by all students wishing to earn the degree. Students then choose from one of the two concentrations of coursework to complete requirements for the MAEd.

Curriculum and instruction
Teachers completing this concentration would enhance professional skills and knowledge in a practical-based perspective on the teaching and learning process. Teachers should pursue this option when desiring to become a change agent in their classrooms and buildings.

Intervention specialist
This program prepares teachers to work with students with mild to moderate educational needs. Completing this concentration and passing the appropriate Praxis II assessments leads to a recommendation for an Intervention Specialist: Mild/Moderate K-12 license from the Ohio Department of Education.
